Happy “Make It Five!” Day in Canada!

No court anywhere has approved our approach, but we’re not going to let that ruin Make It Five Day across Canada!

All of our supporters should make their voices heard to convince the NHL of moving the Toronto Maple Leafs to the AHL by participating in Make It Five Day today. Tell your neighbours, friends, family and co-workers to throw a party. Bake a cake with a makitfive.ca logo done in icing (no pun intended). Heck, send in photos of your Make It Five Day celebration to the commissioner. It’s your day Canada!

Here’s a template for the letter you can send the commissioner:

Dear Mr. Bettman:
How come?
There’s a basic question being asked by Canadian hockey across Canada. The nation that has the strongest passion for the game of ice hockey is curious as to why we can’t just move the Maple Leafs to the AHL?
It is clear that the organization hasn’t been ready to play NHL calibre hockey since 1967. So, how come?
We love hockey and we know you… well, we know you. It’s time for dialogue. It’s time to Make It Five!
How come?
Sincerely a dedicated Canadian hockey fan.
PS Check out my party photos from Make It Five Day!

I want to give thanks to you all for getting behind the MakeItFive.ca movement and personally give you an update.

The buzz continues to build across the country, and the e-mails have been so encouraging. We’ve even found a fan of ours that has started their own Facebook Group in support. I want to reassure all of you that we are committed to continuing the fight to move the Leafs to the AHL.

We want to keep the momentum up and give Canadians a chance to show their support, so I am thrilled to announce that we have chosen June 18th as Make It Five Day in Canada. Tell your friends and family! On this day, all Canadians can show their support various ways… feel free to start to plan your own Make It Five Day activities… and stay tuned for updates on the progress.

Thanks. Let’s Make It Five!

Roger

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jolie Makes Offer To Purchase Maple Leafs

TORONTO (June 9th, 2009) – French-Canadian businessman Roger Jolie has put forth an offer today to purchase the Toronto Maple Leafs. The offer to purchase the team for $396.5 million (U.S.) is conditional on relocation of the organization to the AHL, lowering the number of NHL teams in Canada to five.

“It is most certainly what is best for the franchise, the league, and for the wonderful hockey fans of Canada,” explained Mr. Jolie.

He also asked for Canadian fans who want to see just five NHL franchises in Canada to take a stand. ”It’s so essential for Canadian hockey fans to demonstrate the kind of hockey market we have and the passion we share for this game. I love the Leafs. But, it’s about time they became competitive. Which is why they need to be moved to the AHL. Make it Five!” said Mr. Jolie, CEO of Swashbucks Entertainment Group, Inc.

Canadian fans can now visit MakeItFive.ca to purchase official merchandise … and to make their voices heard.

Roger Jolie Statement to Mayor Miller

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROGER JOLIE STATEMENT
Toronto (June 1st, 2009)

Mayor Miller and Council,

I’m writing to you about the state of mediocrity forced upon the good people of your city year after year.

Toronto has always been patient with their NHL franchise, but it’s time to do what’s best for Canada. Move them to the AHL.

We think it would be good for Toronto’s local economy, as a wide range of businesses, organizations and causes that would be supported by a strong NHL franchise in Toronto would no longer have to suffer in agony. This has always been my opinion.

Thank you for your time.
