Happy “Make It Five!” Day in Canada!

June 18th, 2009 Posted in News

No court anywhere has approved our approach, but we’re not going to let that ruin Make It Five Day across Canada!

All of our supporters should make their voices heard to convince the NHL of moving the Toronto Maple Leafs to the AHL by participating in Make It Five Day today. Tell your neighbours, friends, family and co-workers to throw a party. Bake a cake with a makitfive.ca logo done in icing (no pun intended). Heck, send in photos of your Make It Five Day celebration to the commissioner. It’s your day Canada!

Here’s a template for the letter you can send the commissioner:

Dear Mr. Bettman:
How come?
There’s a basic question being asked by Canadian hockey across Canada. The nation that has the strongest passion for the game of ice hockey is curious as to why we can’t just move the Maple Leafs to the AHL?
It is clear that the organization hasn’t been ready to play NHL calibre hockey since 1967. So, how come?
We love hockey and we know you… well, we know you. It’s time for dialogue. It’s time to Make It Five!
How come?
Sincerely a dedicated Canadian hockey fan.
PS Check out my party photos from Make It Five Day!

What a f’n stupid site this is. You obviously do not care about hockey or love the game.

    http://www.FireBettman.com

  2. Roger Jolie Says:

Quite the contrary Joe… We love and care for the game very passionately. In fact, we fully support teams moving to Hamilton, Winnipeg, Québec City… and, of course, Toronto.

We just don’t care for the lacklustre play of the Leafs year after year, which is why we want to buy them and move them to the AHL. See the difference?

  3. Andy Says:

If the Leafs move to the AHL… that league would wind up making more money than the NHL, become the new major league, ties would be severed with the NHL, and all the stars would come over, leaving Bettman the commisioner of an empty league…

so yea, it would be good for hockey

  4. northcrunk Says:

Your a moron, seriously go fuck yourself

  5. johnny griswold Says:

    Very funny.

  6. Roger Jolie Says:

Thanks johnny griswold … love your site! (http://www.puckdrawn.com)

  7. dan Says:

    you gotta be joking…
bet yer a fuckin habs fan you dickhead.

  8. Kevin Says:

    This is a great site.

Too bad Leaf’s fans don’t have a sense of humor. You’re allowed to admit when your team has been sucking.

Though it should be Make It Four. Let’s get rid of Edmonton too.

  9. Stoneman Says:

You know, I don’t see why it’s so bad to be a fan of a team that’s had some bad years.

We cheered for the Habs when they missed the playoffs 4 of 5 consecutive years from 99-03. We will continue to cheer for them despite their lack of identity this year and in years to come. We will cheer on their young netminders who can’t seem to bring it together. We will cheer in both official languages. Go Expos!!

We cheer the Sens of Ottawa even though they were put out by the Leafs 4 years in a row. We will continue to cheer for them despite big name players not wanting to play there. We will cheer for them even though we know that they’re still paying for 4 NHL coaches that are sitting on the sidelines. Good Luck Clouston!!

Quite frankly, If I grew up in Western Canada, I think I would be very proud of being a Canucks, Oilers or Flames Fan. Of coarse, in the heat of battle I will cheer against all of these teams when they play the beloved Blue and White.

To insinuate that we know nothing about hockey is far from the Truth.

I’m not going to come here and say that the league depends on the TML because it’s quite frankly not true. But the company I work for enjoys making money as do I and I think throwing away the biggest revenue generator in the league might be a mistake Mr Jolie. Or wait, should I call you Angelina?

Get a hobby. Try Internet Hockey…it’s a great new thing.

  10. Bugs Says:

When did Toronto get an NHL club??

  11. Jeff Says:

    LOL!!!

Is there a petition? Where can I sign?

  12. ByTheNumbers Says:

This little joke can’t have anything to do with hockey, the numbers just don’t support you.. I suspect a transplanted westerner living in Toronto must be behind it… but enough speculation. Let us crunch some numbers.

    Overall league Stats for you:

    FINAL Appearances
    Montreal 32 [1st overall]
    Toronto 22 [3rd overall]

    FINAL Wins
    Montreal 23 [1st overall]
    Toronto 13 [2nd overall]
    Edmonton 5
    Calgary 1
    Vancouver 0

    MOST YEARS IN PLAYOFFS
    Montreal 76 [1st overall]
    Toronto 64 [2nd overall]

I could go on but I hear the cries from all of my friends in Calgary “But we didn’t have a team then”….. lets be clear you didn’t have a team because your fine little town was but a pimple on the ass of upper canada when the league was formed. That goes for you to Edmonton. When your teams were added it was as exciting for us as the addition of Pheonix and Columbus… Yawn.

SO we get the history out of the way…..
    BUT
What have you done for lately?

Lets take the last 10 years (one was a lockout year) into account:

No Canadian team has one a cup… so we can all go to hell.

Ottawa has been beyond the first round 5 times
Toronto has been beyond the first round 4 times
Montreal has been beyond the first round 3 times
Vancouver has been beyond the first round 2 times
Edmonton has been beyond the first round 1 time
Calgary has been beyond the first round 1 time

So I guess Calgary and Edmonton have gotta go.
And yeah I know you both made it to the finals but Toronto and Ottawa made it to the Conference finals so add that to their much better playoff records and sorry but your out.

    Enjoy.

  13. dj Says:

man some of you guys are losers

    this site rules

    make it five!!

  14. Justin Says:

ByTheNumbers, people like u make me feel ashamed to be a leafs fan. Do you have a sense of humour.. at all?

  15. ByTheNumbers Says:

    Hey Justin…

Of course I have a sense of humour.
I actually think this is very funny…. but it is at the expense of the wrong team, and as a leafs fan I am obliged to stand up for my team. Yes? I am simply making a case for makeittwo or possible makeitthree. The three western teams just don’t have the records to support the mud slinging. If this was started by a habs fan then good on ya. Although lets be honest if this was set up by a Habs fan it would be makeitone and i guess i’d have to suck that one up.

    BTN

  16. jp Says:

Whoever created this sites a fucking tool, this will never happen in 100 yrs. The leafs will never be sold and moved to the AHL. Like seriously your dumb, they’ve been around for almost 100yrs. in the NHL there not going anywhere.

  17. John Says:

So fans of hockey. Makeitfive is on the right track. However the target city should be freaking Ottawa. First, the city is home to the biggest crooks and BS artists that ever lived. With our leaders as role models the players don’t stand a chance. I say take the best 6 or 7 players from the Sens, fire the rest, put them on the Leafs (ok maybe we have to find a few still) but the Leafs might have a chance. So two teams into one, will makeitfive here in Canada right away in time for 09/10. At the same time take the 24 teams in the US and makeiteleven. That way we have a 16 team NHL, 8 make the playoffs and every regular season game would be better than a game seven. And for those bleeding hearts that worry about those poor hockey players that would lose their jobs, they can go play with themselves in Russia, yeah and players can go there too. Are you kidding me says the Swirsk, Hal Gill’s name is on the Cup?

  18. dudenick Says:

“as a leafs fan I am obliged to stand up for my team” .. loosen up leaves fan! You guys are all like “don’t say anything bad about us we won the cup like a billion times in the 1800s”. This site is hilarious. It’s OK to joke about yourselves a bit. You’re not a good team. Might as well joke about it. You are NOT obliged to stand up for your team, speak out about how bad you are! Unless you want to delude yourself into thinking your team is good.

  19. Luv'n It Says:

This site is great. It is great to see the true mentality and sense of humour some leaf fans really have. The leafs jersey remind me of a great big white towel and the blue representing the tears of their misfortunes. Lets remove those tears stains and make them tears of joy, by making it five :D while you are at it maybe move each canadian hockey team one by one into the AHL and watch Bettman cry in his own towel for his incompetence as Chair.

  20. vilifyingforce Says:

This site would be funny if it wasn’t the same drivel Habs fans have been pounding down my throat as long as I can remember. If JFJ was still our GM it’d be funny. If there was any actual thought or insight it could of been funny. This is just pandering to anti-Leaf fans (of which there are many). Bashing Leafs is a good way to generate traffic, but, there’s nothing clever here. It’s as insightful as me saying Carey Price sucks. Everybody has heard it before. Somehow it’s worse then the makeitseven site.
